Taunggyi is quickly filling up with new hotels. In May 2015 there were just a few old ones around, but 3 years later the place is offering much more. The UCT is a new hotel right across the small park in the center of town. Clean large rooms and facilities. Full breakfast for all tastes. I only stayed one night, but certainly worthwhile if you’re there for work (as I did). Rooms at the front (road-side) are a bit noisy in the morning as traffic starts early.
